Aim reasonably high up (but not straight up), probably around 45-60 degrees up from level, to get a high arch on your throw. Once at the very top, climb up to the top of one of the elytra stands. Now that you have your ender pearls, head all the way to the top of the elytra tower. You will find that the villager may run out of pearls completely, in which case you can sleep and return to him to restock them. You then want to trade with the villager until you have 16 pearls. Repeat the previous steps for this new item, and rinse/repeat until you see ender pearls up for trade. Once you’ve seen the little pluses go back into the trade menu and you should find that there is a different item for which you can trade. If it doesn’t work straight away, trade again and repeat until you see the little pluses. Back out of the menu and you should see loads of little tiny green pluses come out of it. Hit on the villager to open the trading menu, and then trade one of your emeralds for an item. To get the villager to have ender pearls you need to “level up” the villager. He is a cleric, and who you will have to trade with him to get your ender pearls.

Look for a villager wearing a purple coat/jacket. Whilst you are waiting for your sand to turn into glass, go to the village to the east of the hub area, just past the vegetable garden.

Put the bucket of lava from the chest into the furnace and smelt the sand into glass. Once you have collected everything, head to the tutorial hub area and to the smithing section. Firstly you want to mine yourself a load of emerald, which you can find near the elytra towers, as well as collect 24 sand, which you can find located in one of the many places within the tutorial world.
